Diego Canto is part of the Environmental and Public Law team.
His practice focuses on advising national and international companies in their relations with the Public Administration, particularly in markets and projects where the public sector plays a preponderant role, such as energy, telecommunications, transportation, water and infrastructure.
Diego has extensive experience in Administrative and Constitutional Law, advising on economic and sectorial regulation, administrative contracting processes and public concessions, as well as in the development of regulatory strategies to optimize his clients’ operations. In addition, he has worked in complex administrative proceedings, defense against administrative sanctions and representation before public agencies and specialized courts.
In the academic field, he is currently an assistant professor of Administrative Law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
In 2023, he worked at the Cabinet of the Presidency of the National Commission of Markets and Competition (Madrid, Spain), in regulatory and antitrust matters. Previously, he served as an attorney in the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Chile (2017-2024), in two of its units: in the Infrastructure and Regulation Division, where he focused on the control of legality in regulated sectors of general interest; and in the I Metropolitan Regional Comptroller of Santiago, where he was responsible for the legal control of the State Administration in matters of general Administrative Law.
Diego Canto joined Prieto in 2024.
