On August 3rd, 2018, Law No. 21,100 was published in the Official Gazette, which ban the delivery of commercial plastic bags throughout the whole national territory.
It shall become effective six months after this date, except for micro, small and medium-sized companies (Law No. 20,416), who shall have a two-year period from this date.
Despite its deferred validity, provided the time period between the publication in the Official Gazette and the aforementioned dates, the commercial establishments will be able to deliver a maximum of two commercial plastic bags to consumers, for each purchase they make.
