EXPERIENCE
Diego Canto has been a senior associate of Prieto since 2024. He is part of the Environment and Public Law team, where he co-heads the Public Law area together with Agustín Martorell.
He is a lawyer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (2014) and holds a double Master’s degree in Law. In 2020, he obtained a LL.M. with mention in Administrative Law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, graduating first in his class. In 2023, he completed the LL.M. of Regulated Sectors with an intensification in Energy Law at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, where he received the Extraordinary Prize for the best academic record.
Before joining Prieto, he worked at the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic, serving as an attorney in two of its units: in the Infrastructure and Regulation Division, where he focused on the control of legality in regulated sectors of general interest; and in the I Metropolitan Regional Comptroller of Santiago, where he was responsible for the legal control of the State Administration in matters of general administrative law. During his stay in Spain, he worked at the National Commission of Markets and Competition on regulatory and antitrust issues.
In the academic field, he is currently assistant-coordinator of the course of Administrative Law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
