Lizzy Seaman heads Prieto’s Data Protection, Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence practice.
She focuses on regulation and personal data protection, with extensive experience in the design and implementation of public policies and regulatory frameworks in these areas. Her work has included involvement in complex legislative processes and in the implementation of Chile’s new institutional framework for data protection. She has advised both public and private sector organizations on regulatory matters, data governance and compliance, as well as on the coordination of domestic and international stakeholders.
Her experience includes the development and implementation of regulatory strategies, legal and regulatory analysis, the drafting of legal instruments, and support in decision-making processes in highly regulated environments.
Lizzy Seaman has been a speaker at a number of national and international conferences on data protection, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, including the Global Cross-Border Privacy Rules Forum, APEC, the Chilean Chamber of Commerce, Cyber Privacy 360, Universidad de Chile, Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez and Universidad de los Andes, among others.
In the academic field, she teaches in the Diploma in Data Protection program at Universidad Central, the course on data protection in the public sector at Universidad de los Andes, and the course on Enforcement and Sanctioning Law at the Center for Regulation and Competition of Universidad de Chile. She also teaches Administrative Law at Universidad Diego Portales and Universidad Estatal de O’Higgins.
Before joining Prieto, she served as an attorney in the Anti-Cartel Division of Chile’s National Economic Prosecutor’s Office and in the Legal Division of the Ministry General Secretariat of the Presidency. In that role, she led the Executive Branch’s legislative process for Chile’s new Personal Data Protection Law, participated in the Legal Council of the Digital Government Division of the Ministry of Finance, and contributed to the drafting of implementing regulations. She also served as Executive Secretary of the Commission for the Implementation of the Personal Data Protection Law.
