Romina Tobar is Counsel and co-leads the Environmental and Public Law practice areas at Prieto.
Her practice focuses on providing environmental advice to national and international clients, as well as designing advanced regulatory strategies that ensure compliance and promote sustainable solutions for complex projects. Romina offers comprehensive support throughout all regulatory phases, with a particular emphasis on the energy, forestry, mining, infrastructure, and real estate industries.
She has led environmental assessments for environmental impact studies and declarations under the Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA), as well as public and indigenous community consultations. Additionally, she has managed the acquisition of sectoral permits and has extensive experience handling administrative sanctioning procedures before various government agencies and environmental litigation before Environmental Courts.
Romina has been speaker at key energy industry forums and events, universities, and trade associations, excelling in topics related to environmental regulations and energy transition. Recently, she moderated the launch of the study “Enablers for Energy Transition: Analysis of Territorial Management Practices and Standards, Identification of Gaps, and Proposal for Improvements” by ACERA.
In the 2025 edition of the Legal 500 ranking, she was recognized as a “Next Generation Partner” in the Environmental category.
Romina joined Prieto in 2023. Previously, she served as Head of the Legal Evaluation Department at the Environmental Assessment Service (SEA) from 2017 to 2022. Before that, she worked as an associate attorney in the projects area of Vergara Galindo Correa (2011-2016), in the environmental area of Correa Gubbins (2009-2010), and in the corporate area of Carvallo, Bizzarri & García (2008).
